Russell Dean Wilson, age 55 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Olathe Medical Center. Russell was cremated and A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Russell Dean Wilson was born April 20, 1970 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of Jerry R. and Alice Lee (Nyberger) Wilson. He moved to Olathe where he attended school and on November 18, 1992, he met his future wife. On June 24, 1993, he married LeEtta Lyn Truitt in Miami, Oklahoma. They were married 33 years until his passing. She survives at the home in Wellsville.
Russell was a truckdriver and heavy equipment operator for most of his life. He was recently employed by Bair Excavating. He also worked for 5 Star Trucking in Gardner for 15 years.
Russell loved car racing. He loved working on his racecar and competing. He enjoyed anything mechanical and being outdoors, helping his friends and spending time with those he loved. He had a gift for talking to and taking care of people, offering support whenever he could, in whatever way was needed. He was a loving husband and brother and an amazing provider and friend.
Russell is survived by his wife, LeEtta of the home; step-son, Aaron Ayers of Lansing, KS; sister, Christine and Keith Eicove of Olathe, KS; sister, Debbie Mendenhall of Galmey, MO; brother, Steven Wilson of Olathe, KS; brother, Jerry Wilson of Olathe; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Mona Ruiz and his brother-in-law, Joe Mendenhall.
